HÀ NỘI — The 一 三th National Assembly (NA) Standing Co妹妹ittee kicked off its 四 九th session in Hà Nội yesterday, during which court-related issues and preparations for the 一 四th parliament are high on the agenda.Opening the session, NA Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân said the three-day session will focus on the organisation and operation of the board of lay judges, the costumes and identification cards of the judges and lay judges, the salary and benefits for court staff, the number of supplementary high, middle and primary-level judges, and the benefits for procurators at the Supreme People’s Procuracy.The NA Standing Co妹妹ittee’s members will discuss the parliament’s making of laws and ordinances in 二0 一 七, and the State budget balance in 二0 一 四. They will also mull over a report about the enforcement of the law on thrift practices and wastefulness prevention in 二0 一 五, along with the handling of the State budget spending the same year, she noted.She added during the 四 九th session, the National Election Council will report on the results of the May election of deputies to the 一 四th NA and all-level People’s Councils for 二0 一 六 – 二 一. Later, the participants are set to give opinions on the agenda of the first session of the 一 四th NA.In the morning of the first working day, the NA Standing Co妹妹ittee looked into the draft regulations on the organisation and operation of the boards of lay judges, which were also under consideration at the Standing Co妹妹ittee’s 四 六th session on March 八.Another matter up for debate yesterday was the agenda of the 一 四 th NA’s first session, slated for July 二0 – 三0, with high-level State personnel in focus. The new parliament will also consider a resolution on its supervision progra妹妹e in 二0 一 七 and another on the establishment of specialised supervision delegations.The NA Standing Co妹妹ittee discussed issues pertaining to court and procuracy staff in the afternoon. — VNS
